Choa Chu Kang Park

Choa Chu Kang is a moderately new town.  Located in the west, it is the gateway into the wild wild west of Singapore, where the Kranji farms of many sorts plus the world-famous Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve take up residence.

Despite being a young and relatively small town, the Choa Chu Kang Park is situated close to the KJE expressway, thus allowing for easy access by car.  If you’d like to visit by MRT, it’s also just a stone throw away from Choa Chu Kang MRT station.

In order to do a substantive and healthy walk around the park, you should probably walk two rounds.  That’s right, its size is only half that of West Coast Park.  For comparison sake, West Coast Park is only a quarter length of East Coast Park!  Hopefully, this gives you an idea of how tiny the CCKP park is. 🙂

Still, there is a small forested area which you can take a walk inside it.  There are supposedly some durian trees, judging by the sign that warns us of dropping durians.  We did not manage to pick any free durians during our visits, but we did spot many rubber seeds on the ground!  For those of us who grew up in the seventies, rubber seeds were our toys and weapons of minor destruction!  We would rub the seed against the floor and then give others a rude shock with its immense heat.  What great fun we had in making others felt miserable!

There is also a restaurant smacked right at the entrance of the park.  The food is reasonably priced for its quality.  So, do make a date with your loved ones and visit this petite park one day!
