Labrador Park

Labrador Park has been around for possibly few hundred years already.  Located at the southern tip of Singapore, one can look across towards Sentosa island from the coast near where the Dragon Tooth Gate is located.  This stretch of coastal line is only about 1-2 km long, but a board walk has been built to allow us to walk all the way to Vivo City.  Along this stretch of board walk, you will cut across the iconic condo called Reflections @ Keppel Bay.  There are also many interesting ships of various shapes and sizes out there by the sea to feast your eyes.

If you have more stamina and strength, you may choose to hike up the steep slope of stairs to the top of the Labrador hill.  There are some historical monuments and artifacts which provide clear explanations of how the war against the Japanese invasion during the second world war was lost without firing a single shot from the forts built and canons installed in this tiny hill.  In a nut shell, the Brits were utterly, completely and cockily outwitted by the Japs… 😦

My family first visited the park with our two boys back in 2004, when they were just little boys.  The photos which I took of the elder boy roller-blading and the younger boy sketching on the sand have certainly brought back a lot of beautiful memories as we nurtured them over the past 10 years.  How time has certainly flown us by!  🙂

Earlier this year, as part of our church’s men ministry monthly walk and talk event, many brothers came together on a Saturday morning to pray, walk, talk and share precious time to fellowship with one another.  The walk concluded with coffees and breakfasts at the nearby Maple Tree Business City food court.  It was a wonderful time of bonding indeed!

If you are planning to visit the park on weekends, do note that it’s worthwhile to park at the ARC (Alexandra Retail Centre) that is diagonally located at the junction where the Labrador Park MRT station is located.  Why?  Because it’s FOC for the whole day on weekends!  Two-thumbs up!!!

Have fun taking a stroll, or jog from end to end, or hold a picnic, or just bring your loved ones there to enjoy the sunset.

God bless you!
